Dustin Hoffman will amaze you as Dorothy Michaels auditioning for a soap opera part. He can change his voice, mannerisms and look the part of a beautiful woman. If you read the "Description" you can see that he runs into trouble dressed as a woman. It is all in good fun and I think you will enjoy a night out with this amusing story.

A great barrier-breaking comedy that is funny but with substance. I would highly recommend it.

Is there hilarity? Yes. Is there bathos? Sure. Pathos? On occasion. Is there tons of heart, and deep feeling under all the silliness? Absolutely. This is one of my all-time favorite comedies. I love a movie that makes me laugh but doesn't forget that comedy needs to remain emotionally true to be truly affecting. Amazing film. Too bad Hal Ashby (Harold and Maude, Shampoo, Being There) was too far gone by the time his chance to direct this film came up. It would have been very interesting to see what he did with it.

A so-so "fun" type of movie.

A cinematic masterpiece. "Emily Kimberly" is a great screen creation. A career high-point for pretty much everyone concerned, particularly George Gaynes and a magnificent Charles Durning.

Dorothy Michaels: Oh I know what y'all really want is some gross, caricature of a woman to prove some idiotic point that power makes a woman masculine, or masculine women are ugly. Well shame on you for letting a man do that, or any man that does that. That means you, dear. Miss Marshall. Shame on you, you macho shit head.
