I have been known to yell about how much I love this book to anyone even remotely interested.

I was sucked in from the first sentence and went back to it every spare moment I had. All the characters are wonderfully drawn and you can't help but love all of them, even when they're at odds with each other. The mystery is intriguing.

Absolutely one of my favorite books I've read all year. Just be aware that it's supposed to be a 4 book series and only 2 are out.

The book is well-written and very witty at times. I would have given it more stars, but I was rather disappointed by all the red herrings and the lack of resolution....Now that I've read the whole thing, it seems clear that a series is intended. In addition, perhaps to heighten the mystery. the author explains certain aspects of the plot incompletely. I found myself having to go back into the book and reread on several occasions.

I have to admit that at first this novel had me wondering what all the fuss was about. I've read other novels by Stiefvater and enjoyed them but this was the first book where I felt lukewarm about it at the beginning. For me the characterization was a bit rough with too many hints at dark pasts and complicated backstories for too many characters for me to get really attached. But as the plot began to ramp up and the mysteries that are at the core of this series began to unfold, I lost my concerns. The magic in this series is dark and unsettling. The raven boys and Blue are an intriguing bunch who are made more compelling by the challenges facing them, magical and non-magical alike. Plus, several mysteries such as Blue's true love, the power of ley lines, and what finding Glendower will mean are all set up in such a way that you can't help but be interested in how they turn out. Definitely for fans of YA fantasy who may or may not have enjoyed a Stiefvater novel in the past.

What would you do if you were the family power booster and asked to sit on a church wall while your relatives recorded the names of the dead as they passed by? What if one of them was a kid from the private school in your neighbourhood, and it's the first time you got to speak to one of these spirits? Loved this book.

Despite his interest in Latin, Ronan had declared their Latin teacher a socially awkward shitbird earlier in the year and further clarified that he didn't like him.
