Description

Join Charlestown's virtual book discussion. We will be reading The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper by Hallie Rubenhold. A downloadable copy of the book is available for 21-day checkout from Hoopla with your library card or eCard.

Polly, Annie, Elisabeth, Catherine, and Mary Jane are famous for their deaths in 1888 at the hands of "Jack the Ripper." They came from Fleet Street, Knightsbridge, Wolverhampton, Sweden, and Wales. They wrote ballads, ran coffeehouses, lived on country estates, breathed ink dust from printing presses, and escaped human traffickers.
