We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers—even if it's only on a video call!
Boston teens and young adults are invited to join East Boston Branch YA librarian Paul for an hour of uninterrupted writing—from the comfort of your own home!
Whether a book, blog, research paper, college admissions essay, resume, melody, poem, or just plain homework, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done with other young adults.
6:45 p.m. - Quick Intro & Writers Discussion
7 p.m. - Shut Up & Write! for 1 hour
8 p.m. - The End + Writers Chat
Feel free to stick around to chat or continue writing afterward.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 8 p.m. Writing is very solitary, but connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers can be a cool thing, so stick around if you so desire.
BEING LATE IS OK: Just show up and get settled, then check in with me via the chat feature or in person after the silent portion of the event. (I’ll be the one with the Shut Up & Write! sign.)
Happy writing, and I look forward to seeing you on Zoom!
All you need to bring is whatever you need to write—a laptop, a typewriter, a notebook and pen, or just a pencil and paper!
