Passionate about teen reads, but having a hard time getting a virtual book group going...? Join a group of teen librarians as they discuss a YA work with teen patrons of the Boston Public Library as part of their year-long #ReadingTogether challenge.
March 2021's work will be Patron Saints of Nothing by Randy Ribay. Jay plans to spend the last semester of his senior year playing video games before heading to the University of Michigan in the fall. But when he discovers that his Filipino cousin Jun was murdered as part of President Duterte's war on drugs, and no one in the family wants to talk about what happened, Jay travels to the Philippines to find out the real story. Hoping to uncover more about Jun and the events that led to his death, Jay is forced to reckon with the many sides of his cousin before he can face the whole horrible truth—and the part he played in it.
The Teen Book Discussion Group will meet once a month on BPL's FREE Teen Services Twitch channel, Twitch.tv/BPLts. No registration is required; simply click this link (Twitch.tv/BPLts) or paste the URL into any internet browser at the prescribed time to watch the discussion. Participants will need to register for a free Twitch account to participate in chat. Whether or not they have read the chosen book, teens are encouraged to join the conversation, letting us know their favorite content from our teen booklists or any other great sources.
