Teen Book Discussion: Here to Stay by Sara Farizan

3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Description

Passionate about teen reads, but having a hard time getting a virtual book group going...? Join a group of teen librarians as they discuss a YA work with teen patrons of the Boston Public Library as part of their year-long #ReadingTogether challenge.

May 2021's work will be Here to Stay by Sara Farizan. When Bijan gets pulled off the bench to make the winning basket in a varsity playoff game, his life is suddenly high fives in the hallways and invitations to exclusive parties...along with an anonymous photo sent by a school cyberbully that makes Bijan look like a terrorist. Lots of classmates rally around Bijan. Others make it clear they don't want him or anybody who looks like him at their school. But it's not always easy to tell your enemies from your friends.

The Teen Book Discussion Group will meet once a month on BPL's FREE Teen Services Twitch channel, Twitch.tv/BPLts. No registration is required; simply click this link (Twitch.tv/BPLts) or paste the URL into any internet browser at the prescribed time to watch the discussion. Participants will need to register for a free Twitch account to participate in chat. Whether or not they have read the chosen book, teens are encouraged to join the conversation, letting us know their favorite content from our teen booklists or any other great sources.
