Teen Book Discussion: Ms. Marvel, No Normal by G. Willow Wilson

3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Description

Passionate about teen reads, but having a hard time getting a virtual book group going...? Join a group of teen librarians as they discuss a YA work with teen patrons of the Boston Public Library as part of their year-long #ReadingTogether challenge.

January 2021's work will be the graphic novel Ms. Marvel (2014), Volume 1 by G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona. Kamala Khan is an ordinary girl from Jersey City—until she is suddenly empowered with extraordinary gifts. But who truly is the all-new Ms. Marvel? Teenager? Muslim? Inhuman? Find out as she takes the Marvel Universe by storm! As Kamala discovers the dangers of her newfound powers, she unlocks a secret behind them as well. Is Kamala ready to wield these immense new gifts? Or will the weight of the legacy before her be too much to handle?

The Teen Book Discussion Group will meet once a month on BPL's FREE Teen Services Twitch channel, Twitch.tv/BPLts. No registration is required; simply click this link (Twitch.tv/BPLts) or paste the URL into any internet browser at the prescribed time to watch the discussion. Participants will need to register for a free Twitch account to participate in chat. Whether or not they have read the chosen book, teens are encouraged to join the conversation, letting us know their favorite content from our teen booklists or any other great sources.
