We are all facing different challenges this winter. This four-week course is planned to help participants develop the skills to survive and thrive during these difficult times. Each week we will discuss content from Resilience Skills in a Time of Uncertainty as taught by Dr. Karen Rievich at the University of Pennsylvania. In the third week we will be discussing catastrophic thinking and experimenting with ways to decress anxiety.
Learning circles are lightly-facilitated study groups for people who want to work on free online courses together in a collaborative, peer-led, mutually supportive environment. Participants will read and view course content prior to each week's online meeting, where we will discuss our learning, connect with one another, share questions, and try to envision a just and sustainable future.
After you sign up, you will receive an email from us with instructions on how to access the course materials, as well as a link to the weekly Zoom session.
Participants will go through each week's course materials, ask questions, and engage in small group discussions at our weekly Zoom sessions.
Each week we will be meeting on Friday from 3 to 4 pm and focusing on a different way to add to your resilience:
Week 1, Friday, January 15: Resilience and Optimism
Week 2, Friday, January 22: Cognitive Approaches to Resilience: Strategies to Increase Optimism and Resilient Thinking
Week 3, Friday, January 29: Managing Anxiety and Increasing Positive Emotions Like Gratitude
Week 4, Friday, February 5: Leveraging Character Strengths and Strengthening Relationships
While we would love for participants to complete the course in full and attend every session, we understand that this time commitment may not be possible for everyone. If you are not able to attend all of the sessions, please let us know in the registration form.
