Let's read together! Join your friends, family, and fellow Yearlong Reading Challenge participants at the Boston Public Library as we discuss the June Community Read for families: Lucky Broken Girl by Ruth Behar. The discussion will be moderated by a librarian and will take place on Zoom. You must register at least one day in advance of the program in order to receive the Zoom link. Caregivers, we welcome your attendance and participation.
All Community Read titles are available as simultaneous use eBooks on Overdrive during the month that the book discussion will take place. That means that no matter how many people want to join our discussion in June, they can all check out the eBook at the same time!
You do not need to be participating in the Reading Together challenge in order to take part in this book group, but we urge you to join! You can learn about the different monthly challenges, get recommendations for books to read, and find other ways to connect with your reading community at our website. Reading is more fun when we're reading together!
Ruth Behar won the Pura Belpre Author Award for Lucky Broken Girl, her debut children's novel, in which Jewish-Cuban Ruthie Mizrahi must cope with not only the day-to-day struggles of school in New York City in the '60s, but also a terrible car accident that leaves her in a full-body cast.
