Cultural Wasteland aims to create immersive productions using local artists of all disciples in an intimate format. From classical music and opera to cabaret, musical theatre and new music Cultural Wasteland's goal is to create memorable concerts and opportunities for like minded artists to collaborate with one another and take creative risks as an ensemble.

The work of Ms. Heather Gallagher, mezzo-soprano of Cultural Wasteland, has been hailed for its "vivid, theatrical intensity" as well as its "perfection"(Boston Globe). Recent engagements include Haroun and the Sea of Stories (BMOP, Gil Rose, conductor), the world premiere of The Nefarious… Mr. Burke and Mr. Hare (Margaret, Boston Lyric Opera), Calixto Bieito's Carmen (Mercedes; Carmen cover, BLO) and Patience (Lady Saphir, Odyssey Opera), Trouble in Tahiti (Dinah, Metrowest Opera), Sumeida's Song (Asakir, BOC) and the title role in Carmen with Metrowest Opera. Last year, Ms. Gallagher created Cultural Wasteland, an eclectic company that focuses on small chamber works and collaboration between multidisciplinary artists. Under the Cultural Wasteland banner she has produced a chamber version of Das Lied von der Erde, The Birthday Show Part 2: A Cabaret, Tom Lehrer for President!, Britten + Auden, "Crazy B#tch!": Classical Music's Difficult Women and Boston Song: New Music From Boston Based Composers. For more information on what Ms. Gallagher and Cultural Wasteland, visit www.LiveInHg.com.
