This month, Food & Book Club discusses a collection of essays by Mikki Kendall designed to bring attention to issues and ideas often ignored or unnoticed by mainstream feminism. Challenging, engaging, gripping and personal -- focusing on basic needs that all women (and children, and people) should have as foundational rights. To tie in with the essay on "Hunger", this month's food theme will be "Healthy" Junk Food -- foods and dishes often derided by the public that can still be pretty healthy, especially if you are on a budget.
Food & Book Club is a pot luck combined with book club. We meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, and share foods and dishes tied to a theme of the book we are discussing. Pick up copies at the Egleston Square Branch, and meet up to discuss the book, foods, or anything else we stumble upon. Limited seating - pre-registration recommended.
