Storytime with Author and Illustrator Kari Percival: How To Say Hello To A Worm

10:30 AM – 11:15 AM
South Boston

Description

"How do you say hello to a worm? Gently, very gently!"

Join local author and illustrator Kari Percival for a story time and hands-on garden science activity. Percival will read her picture book How To Say Hello To A Worm, an introduction to gardening and growing food for children ages 2-4 and lead an investigation into observing soil, meeting worms, and planting seeds.

Registered attendees will also receive their own copy of the book to bring home.

Registration is required. Please register for attending children ages 2-4 only.

Kari Percival won 2023's Ezra Jack Keats Award for Writer, and the book is also included in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, ALA List of Notable Children's Books, and won a CLEL Bell Award for Early Literacy. What makes her heart swell, though, are reviews like this one from and Amazon review: "When we finished reading it, my children asked me to read it again, which is, I think, the highest praise a picture book can receive." Percival studied inquiry-based science teaching at Antioch New England. She lives in the Boston area and likes to grow potatoes.
