6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Jamaica Plain

Description

This summer, the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) will again offer Free Shakespeare on the Common with the production of William Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale.

John Galton, course facilitator at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UMass Boston, offers a summer lecture about one of Shakespeare’s captivating parables of betrayals, renewed hope, and the transformative power of time. Whether you plan to see the free summer production on the Common, or just want to learn more about Shakespeare’s play, John’s program will give you an overview of the play’s history and a summary of the plot and characters.

This program is sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UMass Boston.

John Galton is a retired English teacher with experience at many different levels: college, elementary, and high school. He earned his PhD from the University of Rochester in 1967 (dissertation on Virginia Woolf). John also led various lifelong learning courses for older adults. He once had minor roles in a professional production of Hamlet and he directed Twelfth Night at Hanover High School.
