Are you totally new to creating music but curious to try your hand? Maybe you are an experienced music artist ready to take your talent to the next level? Wherever you are in your music journey, come to the Lab at Teen Central on Friday afternoons. We are fully equipped for your digital music creation needs with:

  • Audio booth with studio quality Neuman microphone & Apogee Duet audio interface
  • iMac computers with Logic Pro & GarageBand
  • Alienware computers with Ableton Live
  • Blue Yeti microphones
  • Studio quality headphones
  • Alesis V25 MIDI Keyboards
  • Launchpad MIDI Controller

And on Fridays you will be accompanied in your journey by Hamstank, our resident music producer! He’ll meet you wherever you are and get you:

  • Making beats
  • Recording
  • Writing songs
  • Mixing & mastering

Registration is available but not required.


Tony “Hamstank” Hamoui is a professional music producer and educator based out of the Greater Boston area. With the goal of positively shaping culture, Hamstank is driven to study, teach, and experiment with the art and science of sound, one track at a time. As a Boston-bred music producer, Hamstank works with artists to fulfill their creative vision. Hamstank has worked with artists such as Cliff Notez, Oompa, VQnC, Still Electric, Fire and the Field, among many others. Hamstank runs Stank Factory Recordings, a Somerville-based music production studio.

The Lab at Teen Central is the teen-exclusive digital makerspace at Central Library in Copley Square. This space contains high performing iMacs and Alienware PCs — all equpit with the Adobe Creative Cloud and other creative software — as well as 3D printers, an audio booth, sewing machines, Cricut cutting machines, and more! The Lab is open to all 6th-12th graders (12-17 year-olds) who are interested in getting creative with technology. It is a resource for the teens of Boston to explore new technology, gain 21st century skills, express themselves creatively, and become better digital citizens.
