Building Digital Literacy Skills with a Misinformation Resilience Toolkit

5:00 PM – 6:30 PM
Central Library in Copley Square

Description

This in-person workshop will explore ways to help fight misinformation, build digital citizenship skills, and learn tools to identify accurate information on the Internet.

As a group, attendees will choose their learning experience based on what topics are the most interesting to them. With a choice of eight modules in the Be MediaWise: A Misinformation Resilience Toolkit, we will explore and discuss different digital literacy skills. Questions this workshop could explore include:

  • How do you stay safe online?
  • How do you sort fact from opinion? What’s bias?
  • What makes a source reputable?
  • What’s journalism? Who’s a journalist?
  • Where can you find accurate information?
  • How does information spread?
  • How do you know it’s not AI?
  • How do you share responsibly with friends and family?

Be MediaWise: A Misinformation Resilience Toolkit was created by MediaWise in collaboration with The American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office and Stanford Social Media Lab through support from Stanford Impact Labs and the Empowering Diverse Digital Citizens Lab.
