Plant Stories: Understanding Traditional Indigenous Ecological Knowledge

6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Hyde Park

Description

Join us for a presentation with Silvermoon LaRose, Assistant Director of the Tomaquag Museum.

We will explore the intersection of Indigenous artistic and natural ecosystems, the enduring connections between them and consider the ways in which Native American storytelling and cultural identity deepen our understanding of plants, land, and water.

A citizen of the Narragansett Tribe, as well as an artist, educator and conservation advocate, Silvermoon fosters Indigenous empowerment through education, community building and the sharing of cultural heritage and traditional arts. The Tomaquag Museum is Rhode Island's only Indigenous-led museum dedicated to educating everyone on Indigenous cultures through engagement and shared dialogue to reconcile the past and empower present and future generations.
