Computer Basics 101: Getting Started

2:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Central Library in Copley Square

Description

This class is for people who are new to computers, or just want a refresher. We'll start with the basics and help you feel comfortable using a computer. We'll cover:

  • Computer Parts: We'll learn about the main parts of a computer, like the screen (monitor), keyboard, mouse, and the computer itself. We'll talk about what each part does.
  • Hardware vs. Software: We'll explain the difference between hardware (the things you can touch, like the keyboard) and software (the programs that make the computer work).
  • Manage windows: Adjusting the screen (make them big, small, or close them).
  • Using a Mouse: We'll practice using a mouse. You'll learn how to click, double-click, drag things, and scroll. This will help you move around the computer easily.

This class is hands-on, meaning you'll get to practice using the computer. It's a friendly place to learn. You don't need to know anything about computers before you come – just be ready to learn!
