Encounters: From Local Streets to Distant Lands - An Art Exhibit by Rob MacIntosh

All Day
West Roxbury

Description

Photographer Rob MacIntosh showcases Encounters, an art exhibition that brings together images collected over time and distance, offering viewers a chance to share in the wonder and connection found in life's fleeting moments.

Encounters brings together moments captured across the globe — portraits, gestures, and scenes which reveal shared humanity. Each photograph tells a story of connection, spontaneity, and observation. From bustling city streets to quiet corners of homes, these images invite the viewer to pause and reflect on the power of everyday encounters.

About the Artist: Rob MacIntosh is a lifelong Bostonian, raised in Dorchester and a resident of West Roxbury for over fifty years.  He earned a BFA in Graphic Design from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and built a successful career in graphic design before retiring in 2012.

Rob's interest in photography began when his father built a small darkroom in a living room closet. That early spark grew into a passion years later when, in 2017, Rob studied with Robin Radin, a well-known street photographer from Jamaica Plain. Inspired by that experience, he began to focus on photographing the people and places that shaped his world.

With his camera as his passport, Rob has explored life through the lens  from vibrant city streets to quiet remote villages. His images span the globe and the United States: a boatman navigating the waters of Vietnam, the pulsing streets of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, and the peacefulness of a New England porch. His work seeks to reveal beauty in both the everyday and the extraordinary.

His photographs have been featured locally at the Boston Camera Club, Boston City Hall Gallery, and the Boston Public Library — West Roxbury Branch. At the North Haverhill Fir, he has received numerous awards for his photographs with Best of Show honors three times.

A reception for this exhibit will take place on Monday, October 20, 2025 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  All are welcome.
