Cybersecurity: A Class Series for Staying Safe Online— Scam Detection and Prevention 101

Join BPL’s cybersecurity analyst and instruction librarians for a five-week series that will focus on different cybersecurity topics with the aim of helping patrons stay safe while surfing online and savvy against scams.

This class will focus on protecting your privacy and information while using the Internet. Topics that we’ll cover include:

  • Considerations when using public wi-fi
  • VPNs
  • Cookies
  • Incognito browsing
  • Your digital footprint

A basic understanding of computers is recommended. Each week will focus on a different cybersecurity topic. These classes can be attended as a five-week series, or as standalone classes. Please register for each class you would like to attend. The class series schedule will be:

  • Tuesday, April 7: Protecting your Privacy and Information on the Internet (registration)
  • Tuesday, April 14: Surfing Safely on the Internet (registration)
  • Tuesday, April 21: Scam Detection and Prevention 101 (registration)
