Threads & Needles: Anime Cosplay 101 [#teencentral]

4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Central Library in Copley Square

Description

Con season approaches and you want to look your best right? What better way than dressing up as your favorite character! Cosplaying is the best way to wear your fandom with pride and connect with other fans at the local convention. And what better way than to make your costume yourself? Learn the basics of sewing, try 3D printing some gear, all while exploring anime cosplay. Whether you are new to the idea or diving into professional cosplay, Tech Librarian Bri Skywall will guide you and the Lab at Teen Central provides sewing machines, 3D printers, and loads of free material to get you on your way. No experience needed, just bring your creativity!

Registration is optional as we do welcome drop-ins. Come to all three sessions to get the most out of your time and perfect your costume, or drop in to use some supplies or get some tips.

The Lab at Teen Central is the teen-exclusive digital makerspace at the Boston Public Library’s Central Library in Copley Square. This space contains high performing iMacs and Alienware PCs all with the Adobe Creative Cloud and other creative software, as well as 3D printers, an audio booth, sewing machines, Cricut cutting machines, and more! The Lab is open to all 6th-12th graders (or 12-17 year olds) who are interested in getting creative with technology. It is a resource for the teens of Boston and Massachusetts to explore new technology, gain 21st century skills, express themselves creatively, and become better digital citizens.
