It takes 100 pages before she even gets on the train. Not quite the adventure I was expecting.

I enjoyed it tremendously. It has a slow start but after about 20 pages it catches fire and you cannot put it down until you finish it.

Absolutely loved it An academic historian takes a holiday and produces a charming, funny, well written book. Would unreservedly recommend it. Even has a rousing Henry V based ending Pitch perfect

Brilliantly funny yet also quite sweet. You'll hope this is an accurate description of the Queen and her entourage

Delightful read. I liked how the author mixed reality with supposed reality. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

A delightful, funny and entertaining read. The CD book is very well read. I hope that the library will buy more novels by this author.

An amusing, light-weight read. Although he's an American, Kuhn clearly grasps the increasingly cosmopolitan yet still British character of the UK as well as some of the peculiar aspects of the modern royal household, still clinging to its…

I really enjoyed this novel. It was fun to see the Queen interact with "commoners" who don't know who she is. The various Palace characters who chase after her are a likable bunch, if not fully fleshed out. It's a good book and should…

Mrs Queen Takes the Train. by William Kuhn. A very cute story about Queen Elizabeth who one day decides to take an adventure on her own which causes much worry and chaos within her private circle.

Very enjoyable read! This imagined version of such a public person as the Queen makes me think about the hidden depths of all those celebrities that we never see, the little day to day thoughts and failings which make them more human and…

I really enjoyed this book - a mix of a true story and some light-hearted fiction. A good read! FP

My cousin suggested I read this before a trip to Edinbirgh and London. What a funny book ! And it made my adventure more fun when I was in the U.K.Hard to explain that the Queen's wave was used on a wee ferry ride in Scotland, when I was not…

Left with mixed feelings about this book. The droll British humour attempted by the author fell flat most of the time. The book tried to be cute, but often missed the mark and was just silly. The characters didn't really engage me,…

I really liked this book. It is well structured and developped. Contains good character contrasts as well. At the beginning we are introduced to a Queeen who is a bit depressed, uncomfortable, and unsettled. She - as well as all those…

This fictionalized history about Queen Elizabeth deciding to leave the palace and take a trip on her own is a fun book. The author must have done extensive research into what it's like to be Queen Elizabeth and you do feel like you are…

This fictional Queen Elizabeth closely resembles Alan Bennett’s portrayal of her in The Uncommon Reader—intelligent and well-meaning, she is a whizz at small talk and asking the right questions to draw people out, but not so good at…

Read this if you're an Anglophile. The backstage bits about The Queen & her servants ring true. Was not convinced by what eventually happened to William, though.

What a peculiar book. I didn't like it for the first 300 pages. It does not follow a linear progression, so I was often lost as to whether we were still in present day or if we'd stepped back into somebody's memory. The fact that it's…

This book had its funny moments. The characters were creatively conceived. The portrait of the Queen, however, was so far from what I've seen that I just couldn't accept that it had that connection to reality that good satire needs. Or…

Completely charming and thoughtful examination of a few days in the life of The Queen, who in a moment of ennui, ventures out of the palace and onto the train bound for Edinburgh. The supporting cast includes an Iraq war veteran, an…
