A very interesting read. Not sure if I'll read the rest of the series, but I was impressed by what I read.

"An incredible, courageous story. The attention to detail is astounding and it's ultimately an epic work of prehistoric fiction. I've read this series numerous times and every time I find something new that sparks my imagination." - Raven…

I saw the movie and I liked it. So I read the book and i think it was the best one in the whole series. It had a good storyline, good characters and wasn’t full of boring info.

It took me almost two years to read this book. I think that if I had read it upon first release way back when, I probably would have loved it. It just didn't live up to its place in popular culture today. I do recognize that the level of…

I'm calling time on this one. I read it before... at least a couple of times... but that was 20 years ago, and it did not age well. The brief summary: Ayla, a Cro-magnon girl, is orphaned in an earthquake, found by Neandertals, and raised…

This book speculates on what life might have been like 100,000 years ago among Neanderthals and modern humans advancing into Neanderthal territory. Personally, I found it rife with modern discoveries from fire, cooking, sewing to a…

I would like to renew the book that I presently have out which is The clan of the Cave Bear.

This is absolutely the WORST book I have read in my entire life. I do not exaggerate, nor do I say that lightly. It is also terrible that this is heartily recommended to young readers (as it was to me). This book is full of rape and…

This book has amazing detail about natural pharmaceuticals. I am on my second read and the detail captivates me, as it did the first time! In the forward it mentioned Auel received recognition for her detailed research on prehistoric…

Excellent story! I intend to re-read/listen to the entire series! A very good introduction to prehistoric civilization. There may be some inaccuracies due to recent discoveries but "it's" fiction written with accurate data at the time…

This is the dullest most boring book I have ever read. It's like sitting through a course on anthropology. The characters' names were mostly three or four letters long and it was impossible to keep them apart. A shorter version without so…

When I started this series, I had no idea that "Valley of Horses" and "Plains of Passage" were sequels to "Clan of the Cave Bear," so I didn't start with this one. However, the book is great start to the series. It really introduces the…

I was named after the main character in this book and I can say that this book does not disappoint . Every adventure and heartbreak makes you want to read this book more and more! I finished this near 500 page book in 3 days. That is how…

Great story, but there were sections that you could have completely skipped over - or for some reason she felt needed to be explained (almost word for word) twice (ie, Death Curse).

Jean Auel is a phenomenol author. The descriptions she writes, whether it be about the settings or characters, are so luscious and full of beautiful word combinations. I learned so much from this book thanks to her commitment to research…

I love this book series. The first book covers more years of Ayla's life than any other. It pulls you in with her struggle to fit in and understand the flatheads who took her in. Her struggles leave you feeling frustrated at the…

This is a good read; not a masterwork but very entertaining and enjoyable with characters you care about, particularly Ayla.

This book is interesting and well written; definitely worth reading. Keep in mind that this series is historical fiction and many of the capabilities and attributes of the neanderthal people are still being debated.

Highly enjoyable, and seems to be very well researched. Glad I didnt read it as an 11 year old though due to some adult situations.
