If you get British humor (and you might want to put on the subtitles) this is absolutely a SCREAM! Fell over laughing so many times! Highly recommended. I'm off to the second season now!! :)

If you cannot 'turn on' subtitles on your telly, maybe you could write out the subtitles yourself, giving you some real quality time with your mum.

A great beginning to a TV series that my friends have been recommending for years. Martin Clunes is an unlikely romantic lead but there is romance, none the less. The characters are as eccentric as they are infectiously loveable. …

!!
superlative and quirky fare from the U.K. you may have to turn subtitles on to actually hear some of the dialog, and even then it is chock a block with English~isms...some you may need translations of. i did live over there for 2 years…

Martin plays a much different Doc Martin in these two movies, from the character in the TV series. I must admit, I like the tv series much more that the movies.

One of the better Britcoms. A stiff city surgeon develops a fear of blood (among other things) and has to quit or change his practice. So, he becomes the GP in a small seaside town. He's a bit of a jerk and a bit of a loudmouth, but he…
I really wanted to watch the show from the beginning however, was highly disappointed when I was unable to share the joy with my mom who is partially deaf since there is no closed captioning. Multnomah County Library should cater to…

Don't get this if you are thinking you are adding a few extra episodes to the television series. This doctor is very different from the one in the series (even has a different surname) but once you accept that the movies are fun. The…

A charming and thoroughly well done series. The quirkiness of Martin is believable and when the colourful locals are added into the mix you get a very entertaining piece of t.v. production.

I knew the Doc Martin movies (2001) would be much different from the Doc Martin series spin-off (2004 - ?). I was introduced to the series from TPT public TV. Interesting to see Martin Clunes play Doc Martin in a completely opposite…

Enjoyed the movies, but unliked scrubble4 I loved the series. Undoubledly Martin Clunes is a great comedic actor. I must add Port Issac to my list of 'must sees' in England. It is too beautiful.

Doc Martin the movies is much better than the TV series. The character is more multi-dimensional than the anti-social misfit portrayed in the series and the village folk are not all daft. Why did they resort to stereotypical cliches when…
A very entertaining show. There's always a fairly simple problem that ties the episode together but the village and its characters make the series well worth the watch.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I wished the Doc's amiable personality in this film showed a little more in the subsequent seasons/series 1-6. It would be nice to see him smile from time to time each series. I do enjoy all the series…
