Just as the complexity of present-day Life is measured by its evolution from primitive subspecies, the vast variety of crystalline structures that define Earth's hierarchy as an intricate planet, evolved from just a few primordial "Ur" minerals.
Telling our planet's story in this context is amazingly insightful.
Like all of the "Great Courses" I've watched/listened to, these lectures are delivered by an eloquently-articulate expert on the topic. You can tell Professor Robert Hazen is passionate about sharing what he knows, too. That infectious delight and his wealth of knowledge made this an especially enthralling "Course".
Having a better understanding of the extraordinarily-unique processes that created our World, instills a much greater appreciation for the astronomical odds against our growing beyond a single Cell.....
let alone.......
