Stephen P. Kiernan has written a thoughtful yarn about a scientific exploration that yields an unexpected discovery. It is fiction of course but the ethical concerns that are raised are pertinent . Life, love and humanity.
Any heart surgeons out there? Will a heart that is being transplanted really start beating on it's own once in the new chest?

This was one of the best books I've read in a long time. It was really too bad they didn't cure Jeremiah, though.

Really good read. I liked the different characters writing the chapters from their own perspectives-nice touch.

I agree with Jane MM - I also couldn't put it down & read it in 2 days. There is a lot to ponder - science, morality, ethics, politics, the media. It is the author's first novel; hopefully he writes more. It seemed very real for fiction - even references to the Boston marathon bombings. A very interesting read.

Fascinating and compelling story, a real page turner. Lots of ethical and moral questions - a snapshot on today's society as seen through the eyes of someone born more than a hundred years ago. Also a modern day story located in Boston, Mass. with its share of romance, politics, egotism and good ol' fashioned manners. I read this in two days, couldn't put it down.. Hope there might be a sequel,, as a few unanswered questions. Recommended to anyone who enjoys fictions with lots of interesting historical, social and ethical content. Plus a wonderful story!

I believe this was originally called Encino Man.
