A delightful slapstick comedy, sometimes borderline silly, but picks up again and will make you laugh out loud—frequently. Nothing whatsoever to do with the (quite boring) TV series, by the way. Looking forward to more of Compton Mckenzie's books!

I'm watching the video series from netflix; so far series 1-4 and can't wait to get the next installment. The characters are wonderful.

Might have been side-splittingly funny during the war years. Now it's dense, boring and heavy handed in it's humour.
