Zero is ambitious. With a different illustrator for every issue, a story that keeps jumping around in time from 2000 to 2038, and a very human presentation of the blood-soaked spy genre, a lot can go wrong. But oddly enough, everything works. When, half-way through the book, you're met with a page-long excerpt from Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian, it makes sense. It clicks. You nod your head and keep reading, because Kot is pulling you in deeper cell-by-cell. Zero is a smart, creative, and emotional spy saga that will surprise you.
