He'll happily prove he's turned over a new leaf by sharing a room--and unforgettable nights--with his gorgeous new "wife." Working together to expose a saboteur only increases their combustive attraction. But can he convince the woman he drew into a lie that he'll do anything to make this connection last?

WARNING: THIS REVIEW IS GOING ON NOTICE FOR CONTAINING PROFANITY, LEWD LANGUAGE, MILD SPOILERS AND MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF DISAPPOINTMENT. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! This story rubbed me raw and not in a good way. You couldn’t get the female protagonist of this story to agree, however. When it comes to Max Benton’s penis, she’s got the brains of a wet, mold-covered loaf of bread. The relationship between them starts off horribly and goes downhill from there. It seems our little Miss Prudence suffers from a wee bit of a personality disorder, a bad girl that pops out when she gets inebriated or thoroughly fucked by a knowing playboy. That playboy is Max Benton, a partying bad boy known for his sleazy, manipulative, deceitful behavior out of bed and his skills in the bedroom. Prudence is actually trying to be a canny detective and her skills seem undeniable. Max is actually a savvy businessman and he shows his intelligence again and again when working with his controlling older brother. Together they’re supposed to be a powerhouse, dynamic duo, two people meant for each other. Balls! Max goes to ground and Pru uses her considerable talents and feminine wiles to locate him. Then Max acts like he hates Pru for doing her job and finding him when his brother wants to talk to him. He is furious with her and the encounter between them reads like the advent to physical abuse. He sounds dangerous and I actually found myself fearing for Prudence’s skin. But Max is too canny to hit Prudence; she might sue him. So he tricks her into marrying him and then plays childish games in order to get her to let her sexy other self out to play. The scenes where he’s screwing her into submission read like borderline rape, not sexy or erotic at all. The last one, where he’s trying to talk her into marrying him, is just more of the same ilk. This is how he’s going to get her permission for anything whenever she says no? Screwing her until she agrees? WTF?!? For the first time ever, I’m giving this book a no-star rating. There are other characters here but they’re not enough for me to ignore the nasty power struggle between these two, one that we’re meant to believe can lead to a happy ending like a marriage. Ms. Taylor’s gamble here simply doesn’t pay off. Stay as far away from this sordid stained “romance” as you can.
