This book reminded me of "Shadow of the Wind" By carlos ruiz zafron... except that I didn't like it quite as much. There is some information that I think should've been provided earlier in the novel (the nature of Victor and Mori's close bond) to make us "care" more about some of the events. That being said, it was a well-written murder mystery and a pretty good summer book.

Honestly I didn't make it all the way through this. I was previewing it to see if it was appropriate for my middle-schooler, who likes period mysteries if they're not too intense. Although I love this moment in Parisian history, I found the characters, story & writing too dull to continue with.
