when i heard this was his first novel, i wasn't surprised. it has the typical, clinical and cold Ballard thing going on, but it just lacked the kick in the teeth his books usually do. it was ok, but forgettable.

I try to read every post-apocalyptic book out there, so I read this one. I found it really bad, full of overly florid descriptions and strange plot that didn't feel like it went anywhere (to me anyway).
