In 3016, the 2nd Empire of Man spans hundreds of star systems, thanks to faster-than-light Alderson Drive. Intelligent beings are finally found from the Mote, an isolated star in a thick dust cloud. The bottled-up ancient civilization, at least one million years old, are welcoming, kind, yet evasive, with a dark problem they have not solved in over a million years.

The Mote In God's Eye ---- by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle c - 1974 (PBk - Sci-Fi) ---- Five Stars! ---- This is an Excellent Story! The imagination in this joint writing is easy to follow, there is not allot of tricky alien language to try, or over-tax your brain. ---- These two masters kept it simple in thier own complex way. That made the Novel more enjoyable: a story that I will recomend to friends. ---- This is a re-read for me because the books were not available at the same time, nor could I obtain them, due to moving around for work. ---- Enjoy! ---- RichardPaul (finished 12-1-12)

This is great book about first contact with an alien species that was ahead of its time. Written in the 70's before we had handheld computers, Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle, invented the concept of personal handheld computers that we see everywhere.

A bizarre concept to look at life from a different angle. Which, as it is becoming more obvious each day we get more info on possible planets around distant stars, may not be so far fetched after all.
