Julius R. Ames writes to the editor of the Liberator, William Lloyd Garrison, offering him "a few casts which may be appropriate for some of your Anti-Slavery periodicals or publications." He also offers Garrison "the stereotype plates" for "a copy of T[homas] Branagan's 'Guardian Genius [of the Federal Union and the] Beauties of Philanthropy," saying they will be "loaned gratuitously to any person wishing to strike off an edition; - the same terms for the use of the plates of [Ames' book] 'Liberty'." In the postsript, Ames adds that "Mrs. Anne Paul of this city, has ready for publication [the] Life & collection of writings of her late husband Elder Nathaniel Paul." He asks Garrison if he would be willing to publish it and suggests that he should "advertise proposals in the Liberator" for the book.
