Five kids find the body of a superhero in the woods near their suburban home. This discovery - and each child's reaction to it - kicks off a wonderfully brooding tale that satisfies even though there's a few storylines that don't seem to fit.

Plutona is a coming-of-age 5 part mini-series created by Jeff Lemire and Emi Lenox.
The story is about 5 kids who come across the body of a Superhero named Plutona, and how they cope with the discovery.

Lemire does a wonderful job of making the characters relate-able and interesting, and the interactions between them are fantastic.
Lenox's distinct art style really brings these characters to life, and accompanied by the colours from Jordie Bellaire it really makes this comic beautiful to look at.

I recommend this title, especially if you are a fan of Lemire's work.
It is a quick and easy read.

While the ending needed to be fleshed out more, this graphic novel did an excellent job portraying the changing nature of childhood friendships. The art was very well-drawn, particularly everyone's facial expressions, which clearly conveyed their feelings.

Plutona does a stellar job of portraying complex emotions and interpersonal dynamics, characters who are flawed in very realistic ways. Yet I agree with the Library Journal review that the ending left me feeling flat, and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to take away from the story. Effective in many ways, but unsatisfying.

It's like Stand By Me meets The Breakfast Club with a splash of superhero. It sounds crazy I know, but its actually a good meditation on adolescence, power, and growing up.

This unique take on the world surrounding super heroes proves that Lemire is at the top of his game right now.
