The citizens of Lexington, Massachusetts, sent this invitation to William Lloyd Garrison to attend the celebrations in the town marking "the Hundredth Anniversary of the 'Battle of Lexington' on the 19th of April next." The invitation says that the "prominent features of the day will consist of an oration, the unveiling of the Statues of John Hancock and Samuel Adams ... and a public dinner." The Committee on Invitations, which sent the invitation, includes Charles Hudson, M.H. Merriam, and W.H. Munroe.
