It's time for a new generation of readers to discover the phenomenally bestselling and beloved series, told entirely in messages and texts. With a fresh look and updated cultural references, the notorious list-topping series is ready for the iPhone generation. First published in 2004 (holy moly!), ttyl and its sequels follow the ups and downs of high school for the winsome threesome, three very different but very close friends: wild Maddie (mad maddie), bubbly Angela (SnowAngel), and reserved Zoe (zoegirl). Through teacher crushes, cross-country moves, bossy Queen Bees, incriminating party pics, and other bumps along the way, author Lauren Myracle explores the many potholes of teenagedom with the unflinching honesty and pitch-perfect humor that made this series a staple of young adult literature.

Opinion

From Library Staff

An epistolary novel about three teen girls that was retained in Norwalk, CT. While some critics decry its style as “grammatically incorrect,” most who take exception point to its “foul language,” sexual content, and questionable sexual behavior.

Zoe and her bff have have conversations online as they go through the experiences and challenges of their teen years. This is one of my favorite books because it's not like a novel. It shows an online conversation and the style makes it cool. - Franchesca, Teen Volunteer

Loved it!It was very interesting to read through IMs, and see all of the characters' lives unfolding. The characters are very likable, though. Frankly, Maddie is too rebellious and does a lot of stupid stuff, Zoe is too judgmental, aloof and straight-laced. The only one I like is Angela. Though boy crazy and obsessed with clothes and make up, she actually does care about her friends and tries her best to be good person.

It's the type of book that makes you think on how stupid the characters are when they do something bad or stupid. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I loved this book! I'm not the biggest chick-lit fan, but the characters were strong and felt like actual people (most books aren't like that) and I loved how it is told through text messages.

This book is not ok for tweens. It discusses ejaculation among other things. While not opposed to my children understanding sex and sexuality, even my daughter thought this book was inappropriate.

In this book we learn just how confusing, enjoyable, and crazy teenage girls life's can be. Its funny, hard to put down, and an all around good book. Drama is a major factor in this book between the 3 friends, Maddie, Angela, and Zoe. These girls may get in fights and arguments but this book is about showing how friends will always be there for you no matter what.
