An adorable, out of control pet hamster vs. and entire classroom full of kids. Guess who wins. The next pet they get made me laugh out loud and cringe. The pictures are funny and kids will think twice about judging a pet by its cuteness.

Erica Perl’s newest picture book is a story about misbehavior in the classroom – not by the students, but by a class pet.
The kids in Mr. Drake’s grade 2 room were very excited. They had a new pet. Her name was “Fluffity”, and she was indeed furry and fluffy. She was a small hamster with cute whiskers, tiny feet … and very sharp teeth.
Every student in the class wanted to hold and pet her, but their teacher would not allow Fluffity out her cage.
One day, Mr. Drake was late for class and the students decided to take the hamster out of the cage.
Things did not go as they expected!
Fluffity quickly nipped every student in the class. Then she chased the surprised kids around and around the room, down the hall, around the gym and back into the hall. Finally the students escaped into the library and slammed the door.
Only when Mr. Drake arrived at school was Fluffity at last returned to her cage, and the classroom became peaceful again…. for a time!
A surprise ending to this rhyming tale and colourful, vibrant illustrations by Henry Cole make this an entertaining, laugh-aloud story for home or school.
