The fictional story of Peter Pan was first published back in 1902. It was written by Scottish-born novelist, James Matthew Barrie (1860-1937) who was 40 years old at the time. Peter Pan is a magical tale of a young boy who can fly and who never grows up. He spends his time having adventures on the mythical island of Neverland as the leader of the lost boys. The character of Peter Pan has become something of a cultural icon symbolizing youthful innocence and escapism. To date, this character (in one form or another) has been featured in a variety of media and merchandise, including movies, comics, music, and yes, even psychiatry. This book also includes numerous illustrations by Michael Hague.
