More like narcoleptic animal. Jake Gyllenhaal also stars in 'Nightcrawler', which ironically could have switch names with this movie and no one would be the wiser. It's sad that Hollywood used a thesaurus's synonym feature to help name these movies, but I digress. Some of the pacing of this movie is questionable, but is perhaps done as a counter balance for the uneasy to consider moments that may leave you cringing or clutching your soul like a good person should. Amy Adams is good: a face of a thousand feelings. It's clever, but very personal, which makes it a touch too clever perhaps for outsiders to enjoyably understand. If you want to lord it over your friends or significant other that you figured out the movie and are 'smarter' than them, consider a better hill to die on. Keep it to yourself and push through it, or you'll end up alone and unhappier for it.
