Chase effectively engages my five senses in her writing: sight, sound, smell, taste, touch. I like the descriptions of the sound of clothing rustling. Lord Longmore, gets distracted, heated, when he hears the material in Sophy's skirts rustling. Sophy Noirot contributes information to newspapers. The quotes from newspapers and magazines at the beginning of each chapter, enhance the view of society in England during the early 1830s. I find this story humorous. The minor character, Fenwick, a street urchin, is entertaining.
