Brave New World follows the future equivalent of a Native American, John, as he explores his mother’s homeland, where predestination is in the hands of a totalitarian government and the only thing that matters is pleasure. If you are emotional, then do not read this book! John is the only character that I do not want to punch in the face. This book is also a little slow, with a few repeating elements and only small patches of excitement. However, Huxley gets points for being somewhat accurate, given the world at present, even though he wrote Brave New World way back in 1932. The accuracy adds more personal depth to the World that Huxley portrays. All in all, this was a nice book, but not one I plan on reading again. Six out of ten. @R2-D2 of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board Huxley is known for writing Brave new Word because for it’s time was hated on. Brave New World portrayed as a depressing future as "betrayal." Brave New World is for those with an open mind and can accept that what they are reading is from the mind of a futurist from the early 1900s. Huxley was able to predict transport methods and life styles well before they became a reality. Brave New World is an excellent novel with and without understanding the themes and concepts which make the story so great. For its time, Brave New World was seen as absurd yet eventually became a great literary contribution as classic novel. - @LittleMissRedHead of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library Had to read this book for my grade 11 english class and really didn't like it. I just felt like there wasn't a good flow within the book, like it would flip between four or five different people with different situations, then add in something else without giving any background as to what they were talking about. It also just seems so out there, like this would never happen. While I get there's a message and purpose to the book, if I didn't have to read it for school I probably wouldn't have read it. It was too confusing and didn't interest me at all and therefore took me forever to finish it. Rating 0.5 out of 5 stars. - @Fallenangelhushhush of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
