Brilliant film and, although different, excellent book.
These explorations of the personal and political complexities of Afghanistan and Pakistan were funny and illuminating. The movie took a number of liberties but I enjoyed it as much as the book.
The author was able to maintain political neutrality which I would hope for in a journalist while illustrating the failure of local leaders and the international community in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
She also shows her personal growth in light of friendship and dating challenges in a war zone and vastly different culture.
I liked it for these reasons and for the clarity of her writing style
