3.5/5 stars. Cars 3 is a 2017 American computer-animated comedy-adventure film directed by Brian Fee. It is the third installment of the beloved Cars franchise. Cars has a simplistic story about a young, skilled, and overly confident athlete learning the ins and outs of being a good sport. Cars 2 is a (poor) attempt at a py movie. Cars 3 feels like it is based in far deeper themes. The movie is very self-aware, as the story of Lightning aging parallels the franchise aging as a whole. I also think the director made in film references to the whole franchise only existing to sell merchandise, and I think Brian Fee made a good attempt to make a more meaningful story. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and was engaged the entire way through. It was funny, the characters are endearing, making you empathize with them all the way through. The movie is well paced and focused, unlike its predecessor. If you're looking for a well-made movie for the whole family to enjoy, this is a good choice. @Joaquin of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board The movie “Cars 3” is a terrific Disney movie and the third part of the original Disney movie, “Cars”. The animation of this movie was marvelous, the animation of this movie is the exact same animation as the original movie “Cars” and the second part known as “Cars 2”. Overall the animation of the background and characters was very well done with exceptional detail. The only thing which I disliked about this movie was that Lightning McQueen kept losing races to rookies. The plot of this movie was outstanding with new advanced cars becoming rookies and kept beating Lightning McQueen to the point where he was almost forced to retire. The entire movie was heartbreaking as young advanced rookies overtook the racing sport and defeated McQueen many times. The emotion and mood which this movie expressed were marvelous with a glimpse of joy, anger and sadness. I believe that this movie is enjoyable for all ages as it is quite appropriate for younger children and is still entertaining for adults. Anyone who loves “Cars” or “Cars 2” should definitely watch the final part. Rating 4.5/5. @Chichiro of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board This movie should just be retitled to Cars 2, because it sure does beat whatever that other movie was supposed to be. I mean for real, Cars 3 is a perfect addition to the first Cars movie. It has an amazing final race scene, great character development, and Matter keeps his role as the funny comic relief, and not a spy working to destroy some evil fuel company. It just works better for the truck. It was great seeing Mcqueen learning to become a better racer, but then finding out that it was his gym teacher that truly deserved to win. It was also great learning of Cruise's backstory, finding out that she always wanted to be a racer, but gave it up because she thought she was not gonna make it. It makes her be not some paper thin happy go lucky character, and more relatable at the sense of that we all doubt ourselves one way or another. The one plot hole I see in Cars 3 however, is why Mcqueen could not just get some upgrade to make himself faster, so he can beat Jackson Storm. We see in this movie's spinoff Planes, Dusty got an upgrade to make himself faster, as is Doty's quote, "More tork equals more speed." But, if the movie did take that route, we would never have gotten this redemption ark. So if you were disappointed of Cars 2, I recommend watching Cars 3. It is a way more better sequel. 4.3/5. @BooksRUs of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
