After Tash Zelenka's web series, a modern adaptation of her favorite novel, "Anna Karenina", blows up online, she tries to cope with the fame, pressure, and haters that go along with online stardom. Top that off with some family drama as well as figuring out how to tell her friends and the guy she is crushing on that she is romantic asexual, and Tash's summer is a little hectic. I thought this novel was unique with a storyline and main character that was refreshing and not often seen in YA, or in literature for adults for that matter. For an easy-to-read and heartwarming contemporary, look no further.

This asexual/demisexual M/M romance novella about two socially awkward men that work for a secret government security agency was, by far, my favorite book of 2017. It’s a beautiful and gentle love story, yet heart wrenching at times, deep in its scope, and definitely not something that’s easily put down. I can’t recommend this book enough!

Part biography and part film criticism, this is a revealing look at the great movie director, warts and all. It examines his more noteworthy films in great detail with interesting behind the scenes stories. The less important films are covered briefly and they help explain why they were not successful. Other biographies of Hitchcock have been published and I am curious to read them sometime but I felt this one had the right amount of detail and balance in terms of his personal and professional lives and film analysis.

Life after kids can be hard on a relationship; so can life before kids! Desperate and outraged author Jancee Dunn and her mild-mannered (but suddenly long distance cycling obsessed) husband seek advice from a wide variety of relationship experts to deal with their increasing marital hostilities in this lighthearted memoir. Despite the cheeky title, this is a funny, accessible read for both men and women seeking peace in their long-term relationships, be they parents or not.
