BostonPL_Play: 13 Board Books to Promote Early Literacy

Play is one of the five early literacy practices outlined by the Every Child Ready to Read initiative. Playing with everyday objects around the house engages infants' and toddlers' senses and contributes to brain development. Research shows that children who have more time for child-directed play have better executive function--the part of the brain that helps regulate emotions and develop concentration. Quality play is great preparation for school success when your baby or toddler gets older!
